Greenhouse Studio
Timber, repurposed glass windowpanes, pleurotus ostreatus mycelium, wheatgrass, sawdust, wool
Dimensions: variable
This installation is a grow house of collaborative experiments with the aim to facilitate creative exchanges between Plants and Fungi while exploring ideas of distributed authorship.
Working with nature as partner, sun and water are harnessed for fabrication. Wheatgrass roots grow into handmade moulds inspired by celebratory solar symbolism found on Bronze Age sun shields. Oyster mushroom mycelium are grown using waste products and packaging: offering the mycelium control over the shapes and forms they will choose to explore themselves.
Greenhouse Studio reveals hidden worlds through collaborative experiments with Plants and Fungi. By facilitating creative exchanges between these natural partners, I expose the intricate processes of growth and symbiosis that typically remain unseen. Utilizing substrates like cardboard, sawdust, and wool—materials often discarded as waste—I highlight their potential for new growth, embodying the concept of a circular economy.
Greenhouse Studio challenges conventional consumption culture, offering a sensory experience of slow design and ecological mindfulness.
