Bereft of Wet and Wildness

Bereft of Wet and Wildness (titled after Gerald Manley Hopkin's Inverness)  is a series of black and white analogue photography that investigates the intimate and intrinsic relationship existing between body and land. Moving to the city from a rural village in 2020, I was absolutely struck down with the disconnection and solitude I felt from the lack of interaction within the landscape. A complete sense of un-belonging drove me to begin this collection. It is still an ongoing process: weekends spent walking through the wilderness, searching for locations of interest and allowing the land to lead. It is an exploration of grounding and re-belonging through intentional presence in place.
